Direct Support Professional Floater
The Cooperating Community Programs Direct Support Professional Floaters are an irreplaceable asset to the exceptional service we offer to developmentally disabled individuals. Our flexible and high energy Direct Support Professional Floaters train and serve over a dozen group homes as full time subs. Whether it’s covering a shift for a colleague on medical leave or out sick, our Direct Support Professional Floaters are available and ready to help, rain or shine!
The Direct Support Professional Floater position is ideal for people who are: • Experienced with disabled individuals and looking for a company that offers the opportunity to grow as a professional • Are able to be On Call and Available 50 to 70 hours/week • Enjoy working with a variety of individuals • Are familiar with the Twin Cities Metro Area
Direct Support Professional Floaters complete a minimum of 30 hours of training within the first 60 days of employment.
Direct Support Professional Floater Training Includes: Medication Administration CPR & First Aid Person Centered Actions A Day in the Life Alternative Intervention Techniques Lifting and Transferring Specialist On-Site Orientation Shadow Shifts
Daily Job Duties May Include: • Encouraging and respecting personal choice and decision making • Documenting daily progress and health notes • Administering medication • Assisting with or fully preparing nutritious meals • Transporting individuals to community activities, events, doctor’s appointments, and running errands • Ensuring that the home is safe and clean • Assisting with personal cares, as needed (including bathing, toileting, changing briefs, brushing teeth, etc.) • Implementing therapeutic interventions
Position Requirements: • Possess a valid driver’s license • Pass a motor vehicle record check with an acceptable driving record • Possess a reliable vehicle • Ability to transport up to three people in your vehicle at one time • Pass the Department of Human Services background check • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, oral and written • One year experience with disabled individuals • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
