Direct Support Professional I
The Cooperating Community Programs Direct Support Professional I’s are at the heart of the exceptional service we offer to developmentally disabled individuals. Every day our Direct Support Professional I’s dedicate their creativity and energy to helping the people we serve make their goals and dreams a reality. Whether it’s mastering the art of tying a shoe or planning a trip to Graceland, the Direct Support Professional I is there to guide and assist.
The Direct Support Professional I position is ideal for people who are:
• Interested in starting a career in healthcare of human services
• Looking for a fun and meaningful part time job while attending college
• Experienced with disabled individuals and looking for a company that offers the potential to grow as a professional
Direct Support Professional I’s complete a minimum of 30 hours of training within the first 60 days of employment.

Medication Administration
CPR & First Aid
Person Centered Actions
A Day in the Life
Alternative Intervention Techniques
Lifting and Transferring
Specialist On-Site Orientation
Shadow Shifts
Daily Job Duties May Include:
• Encouraging and respecting personal choice and decision making
• Documenting daily progress and health notes
• Administering medication
• Assisting with or fully preparing nutritious meals
• Transporting individuals to community activities, events, doctor’s appointments, and running errands
• Ensuring that the home is safe and clean
• Assisting with personal cares, as needed (including bathing, toileting, changing briefs, brushing teeth, etc.)
• Implementing therapeutic interventions
Position Requirements:
• Possess a valid driver’s license
• Pass a motor vehicle record check with an acceptable driving record
• Possess a reliable vehicle
• Ability to transport up to three people in your vehicle at one time
• Pass the Department of Human Services background check
• Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, oral and written
• Experience with developmentally disabled individuals preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
